Golfers Get Set to Tackle 28-Mile Hole
Pioneer Pass Tournament in Yucca Valley
YUCCA VALLEY โ The first 18 holes of golf in the fourth annual Pioneer Pass Golf Challenge will be played today at Yucca Valley Country Club by a total of 15 entries with the official kick-off dinner following at 7:30 tonight at Callahanโs Restaurant.
The public is welcome to attend.
Playing of the โWorldโs Longest and Only 19th Holeโ will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday when participants tee off on Main Street in Pioneertown.
Twenty-eight miles long, the 19th hole follows the historical mining and cattle trail through canyon over mountain from Pioneertown to Big Bear.
Golfers will spend Saturday night either in Yucca Valley or Big Bear and return to the spot they left off Saturday afternoon and complete the play.
Golfers will finish at about 1 p.m. Sunday at the Peter Pan Lodge. A buffet will be served at 1:30 p.m. for participants and spectators.
To top off the weekendโs activities, a dinner is set for 7 p.m. Sunday at the Snow Summit Lodge in Big Bear when awards will be presented to winners.
Committee in charge of planning the event which is sponsored by the Pioneer Pass Golf Challenge, Inc., is Roger Lenhardt, president; Art Acason, vice president; Ed Rance, secretary; Welling Clark, treasurer; and board members are Bill Hanson, Millard Williams, Ray Potts and Al Fisher.
