Riders Flock To Weekend Activities In Pioneertown

PIONEERTOWN — a weekend of festivities, Western style, was scheduled for the horseman attending be 11th annual Equestrian Trails Encampment now going on in Pioneertown. Many of the 1,500 riders expected checked in for the kick-off dance held Friday night on the sound stage on Mane street.

Yesterday there were trail rides to various points of interest. Last night the big dance was held with music by the K-tones, a popular Western combo.

Today there will be a gymkhana at 10 a.m., and in the afternoon at 1 p.m. the Grand Entry Parade will march down Pioneertown’s dusty Mane street.

John Hamilton, president of Yucca Valley’s Corral 46, is acting as host for the event.
