We have spent over a hundred hours searching through newspaper archives to gather as much actual and accurate information as we could find. All articles show the date the article was published and the newspaper or magazine that published the article along with any writer information we found. Our focus was primarily the original 1946 development, the motion pictures created in Pioneertown, the Golden Empire development which includes the drive to create a road from Big Bear to Pioneertown (The Pioneer Pass), the Pioneer Pass Golf Challenge and the Russell Hayden Movie Ranch. We included some articles that don’t fall into these categories as well. Some articles only have a small mention, such as a couple from early 1950’s Hollywood Gossip columns. Each article has an image of the clipping. We retyping the articles for web readability, we left 90% of the typo’s as they were in the original article. Most articles have a pdf of the page it came from. We found some of the advertising and other articles help provide a great feel for the times they were written in. The style of newspaper writing in the 1940s and 1950s is very different from the style of newspaper writing today.
