The third fire in a week in tiny Pioneertown burn the Golden Stallion restaurant to the ground yesterday, causing more then $50,000 damage, the California Division of Forestry reported.

Pioneertown will be the setting for the Western Roundup square dance next Saturday evening at 8. Yucca Valley Hi-D Squares will sponsor the big dance under the stars. Max Normando, La Habra, has been engaged to call the squares.
A resolution asking state and federal forestry officials to provide the estimated $2 million for the construction of Pioneer Loop Road between Big Bear and Yucca Valley was approved yesterday by the Board of Supervisors.
The first public hearing, concerning a requested zone change in Pioneertown, will take place before the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors tomorrow at 3 p.m. The hearing, requested on petition of actor Russell Hayden, one of the original Pioneertown developers, is for consideration of a zone change from rural residence (RR) to desert living (DL) in portions of section 20, Township 1 North, Range 5 East. The portions lie both north and south of Pioneertown Road and in the vicinity of Skyline Ranch Road.
Use of an 80-acre site west of Pioneertown for development of a trailer and camper park was approved by the county planning commission last week on condition that an improved road be built to provide adequate access.
Schedule events include an 8 p.m. dance Friday night at Sportsmen's hall on Sunbursts Avenue; A parade starting at 10 a.m. Saturday morning in the downtown Joshua Tree; an arts and crafts display Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Elementary school multi-purpose room on Sunburst Avenue; and a gymkhana Sunday at 2 p.m. in Sportsman's Park. There will be rides, game booths, food booths and "tailgaters" with rocks and jewelry, crafts and souvenirs at Sportsmen's Hall and Park on both days. Russell and Mousey Hayden of Pioneertown will be the grand marshals of the parade.
The common hazards on the 10-hole course includes: ravines, sagebrush, rocks, snakes and lost balls. Each golfer has a spotter to keep track of the ball. Some holes are a few hundred yards along, others more than a mile.
"Yep, things are generally pretty lively around here," says Red Dog Saloon manager Bill Anderson. "But it wasn't always this way. In fact, back in the late 60's and early 70's the town almost died. You see, both the Red Dog and the Golden Stallion saloons burned down. It was ca-ta-strophic," he sighed, remembering that dull period in the town's history.
The Sandra Hayden Memorial Foundation Barbecue is scheduled for July 1 at the Hayden Ranch in Pioneertown.
