Engineers Bypass Three Hells Hill

PIONEERTOWN – Following the decision of engineers Victor DeKalb, San Bernardino National Forest, and Pat Sullivan, U.S. Marine Corps Base, to bypass Three Hells Hill and to skirt the side of the hill along the route the Valle de las Vistas Club plan to take in 1951, a survey of this section of Pioneer Pass was made last Saturday.

Pioneer Pass Road. Will Link Big Bear, Desert

BIG BEAR LAKE, April 29-Passenger cars soon can use the Pioneer pass Rd. between Big Bear resorts and the high desert communities of Yucca, Joshua Tree and Twentynine Palms to the east, according to Earl Nichols, district ranger of the Big Bear headquarters for the U.S. Forrest Service.

L.A. Horsemen Start 350-Mile Trail Ride

Clip-clop of horses' hooves brought back the old days at 1st and Spring Sts. yesterday. The occasion was the start of a horseback ride from Los Angeles to Pioneertown near Yucca Valley, a distance of some 350 miles by Equestrian Trails, Inc., a horsemen's nonprofit organization.

Riders Flock To Weekend Activities In Pioneertown

PIONEERTOWN -- a weekend of festivities, Western style, was scheduled for the horseman attending be 11th annual Equestrian Trails Encampment now going on in Pioneertown. Many of the 1,500 riders expected checked in for the kick-off dance held Friday night on the sound stage on Mane street.
