PIONEERTOWN - Pat Sullivan, civil engineer, Public works Office, at the Marine Corps Base, joined with Pioneer Pass Pushers in a study of construction problems along the route from Pioneertown to Big Bear.

As in the old days when you wanted a road you built it yourself, a group of residents from the Yucca Valley-Joshua Tree district is Straightening the curves and taking the chuck holes out of the old wagon road leading into the mountain resort area.

PIONEERTOWN – Following the decision of engineers Victor DeKalb, San Bernardino National Forest, and Pat Sullivan, U.S. Marine Corps Base, to bypass Three Hells Hill and to skirt the side of the hill along the route the Valle de las Vistas Club plan to take in 1951, a survey of this section of Pioneer Pass was made last Saturday.

BIG BEAR LAKE, April 29-Passenger cars soon can use the Pioneer pass Rd. between Big Bear resorts and the high desert communities of Yucca, Joshua Tree and Twentynine Palms to the east, according to Earl Nichols, district ranger of the Big Bear headquarters for the U.S. Forrest Service.

Thanks primarily to the impetus of Yucca Valley civic leaders, construction is now sufficiently advanced on the Pioneer Pass Road, east of Baldwin Lake to the high desert, so it may be traversed with passenger automobiles, bus opening to the General public some of the most scenic country in the hinterland of San Bernardino National Forest.
