Engineers Bypass Three Hells Hill

PIONEERTOWN – Following the decision of engineers Victor DeKalb, San Bernardino National Forest, and Pat Sullivan, U.S. Marine Corps Base, to bypass Three Hells Hill and to skirt the side of the hill along the route the Valle de las Vistas Club plan to take in 1951, a survey of this section of Pioneer Pass was made last Saturday.

Burro Race Queen Contest Under Way

As one of the kickoff events of the “Miss Burro” contest, some of the young contestants from Big Bear and the Pioneertown- Yucca Valley area exchanged visits and ticket-selling sprees over the weekend, it was reported by Samuel A. Moore, Pioneertown activities chairman.

Pioneer Loop Association Set

With 62 persons voting, representing more than a dozen communities from two counties, the Pioneer Loop Association, dedicated to tourism and recreation, was given a solid “yes” vote at its formation meeting Feb. 17 at the Glen Restaurant. Jim Ishmael, Resident of the Hi-Desert Associated Chambers of Commerce and host for the meeting, presided.
