PIONEERTOWN, "a replica of the West as it used to be" is a town built to function both as a permanent western movie set and as a real town with legitimate business houses. It is located on the high desert about 30 miles north of Palm Springs. It Is the birthplace of the Judge Roy Bean series and other famous Westerns.
The first 18 holes of golf in the fourth annual Pioneer Pass Golf Challenge will be played today at Yucca Valley Country Club by a total of 15 entries with the official kick-off dinner following at 7:30 tonight at Callahanโs Restaurant.
Activities will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at the Yucca Valley Country Club where participants will play the first 18 holes of golf. A kickoff dinner will be held at 7 that evening at Callahanโs restaurant for participants and guests.
The Fifth Annual Pioneer Pass Golf Challenge will feature the 28 mile "World's Longest and Only 19th Hole," connecting the Hi-Desert with the resorts of the San Bernardino Mountains. It is sponsored by the Park and Recreation Districts of Big Bear Valley and Yucca Valley.
